da jogodeouro: Tottenham have joined Inter Milan in the hunt for Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen, according to SportMediaSet.
What’s the word?
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are braced for significant changes in 2019 and a defensive overhaul could be on the cards, as both Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld see their contracts in North London expire at the end of the season.
That has put Spurs on the hunt for a new central defender and Italian outlet SportMediaSet names Tottenham amongst the clubs interested in signing Joachim Andersen from Sampdoria after his impressive performances in the Serie A.
The 22-year-old Denmark youth international is also a target for Inter Milan and Juventus, while FC Inter News have suggested that Arsenal are also in the running for Andersen.
A good move?
Tottenham’s hunt for a young defender has seen a number of names appear in the tabloids in recent weeks and Joachim Andersen is an option that could provide a significant boost to Spurs’ defence – although he is perhaps not quite at the quality of Vertonghen or Alderweireld.

In reality, Spurs will struggle to be able to afford a defender of similar calibre to the Belgian duo and their priority should be securing their two most experienced centre-back’s down to a new contract before the season comes to a close.
Pochettino has the attributes and record that suggests he can get the best out of the young defender but it would be a significant jump for Andersen to join the Premier League side, particularly as he has no experience of English football.
