da wazamba: As reported by The Sun, Arsenal’s chances of signing Max Meyer have been boosted after his club Schalke confirmed it’s likely he will be leaving when his contract expires this summer.
What’s the story?
da pixbet: The central midfield area is one in need of improvement at the end of the season, with a number of faltering performances in the middle of the park contributing to poor results for the Gunners this term.
One player they’re looking at, according to The Sun, is German youth international Max Meyer.
The paper reckon Arsenal are one of the English Premier League clubs interested in his services, rivalling Liverpool for his signature.
And the chances of signing him have increased after Schalke director Christian Heidel confirmed he’s likely to say goodbye to the club this summer.
As quoted by The Sun, he said: “At the moment we can and must expect that Max leaves the club in the summer. Everything suggests that. There is no offer from us and no wish from Max to have a conversation again.”
Available for a cut-price compensation fee, can the Gunners convince the 22-year-old his future lies in North London?

Why is he a good fit at Arsenal?
The Gunners are in dire need of a squad overhaul this summer and as such resources will be stretched when the window opens, meaning a bargain deal for a player with significant potential like Meyer is ideal.
While young, he has plenty of experience in the Bundesliga and European competitions, enough to ensure he won’t be out of his depth at the Emirates should he make his move.
Arsenal badly need fresh ideas in the middle of the park with their more defensive minded players failing to properly protect their defensive line.
Meyer has been deployed in a defensive role for Schalke this term and can add depth and quality to the squad at Arsenal, with bigger fees then able to be used to attract more established talents in other areas of the team.
