da pinup bet: Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has suggested that changes need to be made to the current transfer system in football.
da bwin: As it stands, clubs can buy and sell players from July to the end of August, and then again for a month in January.
It has often been suggested that the summer window should shut before the season begins in order to make sure that the squads are well equipped for the campaign ahead.
Wenger believes that the winter market should be scrapped completely, as he feels that players looking to leave midway through the season get distracted.
While speaking to beIN Sports, the Arsenal manager said:
“The players who do not play or the players who are tapped up in October they already start again to think where do I go in January.
“I believe that we have to bring some decency [to the game]. We all complain today that [football] has become too much [of a] business, but we can do something about it. We have that responsibility in the game.
“The ideal situation would be to have a transfer period that is closed 48 hours before the first game of the championship and to close it completely until after the season.”
The Frenchman’s comments come amid reports from The Mirror that Manchester City will try to sign Alexis Sanchez in January after failing to land his signature on deadline day last week.
The Chile international has less than one year remaining on his current terms, meaning that he is free to discuss transfers with potential suitors in the winter window.
The same can be said for a number of Arsenal players, including Mesut Ozil, who is also out of contract next summer.
