da heads bet: Former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher has urged the Reds to keep hold of Philippe Coutinho this month amid suggestions that the Brazilian is nearing a move to Barcelona.Coutinho, who is valued at £81m by transfermarkt.co.uk, was desperate to move to Barcelona during the summer, but Liverpool consistently refused to sell the playmaker. It is understood that Barcelona are confident of completing a deal before the January transfer window closes for business, but Carragher does not see the point in his former club allowing Coutinho to leave at this stage of the 2017-18 campaign.Indeed, the pundit has claimed that Liverpool should agree to sell Coutinho to Barcelona at the end of the season, but ensure that he spends the rest of this term on Merseyside as the club pursue a top-four position in the Premier League.
Coutinho has contributed 12 goals and eight assists in all competitions for Liverpool during the 2017-18 campaign.
He missed Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Burnley at the weekend through injury, and it is thought that the 25-year-old has played his last game for the club.
