da realsbet: As exciting as the race for the title will be this year, there is also a very exciting race at the other end of the table to avoid the drop.
da fezbet: There are more than one or two obvious teams that will struggle this season for various reasons- be it because of managerial issues at the club, lack of spending in the summer, poor performances early on that have seen them struggle or a combination of all the above.
I will be looking at the five teams that will be the most likely to be dragged into the relegation dog fight and explore what the issues are and rate each team’s chances of staying in the English top flight of football.
The Premiership looks set to provide us with a lot of twists and turns throughout the season and it will be thrilling to watch it all unfold.

QPR
QPR have bounced straight back up to the Premiership first time of asking under Harry Redknapp, needing a play off victory to seal the return.
Despite spending a lot of money on new players over the summer and drafting in some vital experience in the shape of Rio Ferdinand they have had an awful start to the campaign with one win in four games and a goal difference of minus 9.
They look very poor defensively and to make it worse they do not look like they are going to score many goals either. They will be in the relegation fight throughout the whole season and it will take a miracle for them to avoid the drop.
Newcastle
The Magpies have had a terrible start to the season despite spending well in the transfer window. They sit rooted at the bottom of the table already not having won a single of their opening four games so far.
The capitulation at the hands of Southampton in their last game highlights just how much they are struggling already. Their poor run started last season and they seem to be in free fall at the moment with no hope of a reprieve. If they cannot get a win in their next game, the manager will probably be sacked and the confidence will surely be next to zero amongst the players.
I do not see a way out for Newcastle unless they win two or three on the bounce and go on a little confidence-boosting run.
Burnley
The Clarets have always entertained with some great football and a winning mentality-in the Championship. I admire them for giving it a good go when ever they play in the BPL but the difference in quality between the two leagues sticks out like a sore thumb when watching Burnley.
Their promotion campaign was nothing short of impressive with some rampant football and an unstoppable winning mentality saw them make easy work of the Championship. However since being promoted they have been made to look like a conference side and they do not seem to offer anything much more than an easy three points for opponents so far.
They will be hard to break down at home, but other than that they are surely favourites for a bottom place finish this season.
Crystal Palace
The Eagles for me are a 50/50 bet. They really need a manager that can motivate them and get them playing in the right way and they had that last season when Tony Pulis was in charge.
To see him leave 48 hours before the start of the season must have been a huge blow to both players and the fans. They have Warnock back at the helm, but it remains to be seen whether or not he can get the same reaction from his players as Pulis did. When they are motivated, the Palace players are unbeatable. Otherwise they are very easy to beat and crumble too easily.
If Warnock does not get the best out of his players, they might go down.
West Bromwich Albion
The Baggies were known at one stage for being a yo-yo team. Too good for the Championship and too poor for the Premiership and this was proven by them spending a good few years yo-yoing between the two leagues.
After some stability and a couple of seasons of Premiership survival, they still look nothing more than a bottom half team who will always be in a relegation battle. They are yet without a win and do not look like offering much in terms of goals, only managing two goals in the first four games so far.
They might have enough scrap in them to narrowly avoid the drop, but if they cannot start scoring more goals then they will be in the mix for the drop at some point for sure. I don’t rate West Brom as a Premiership side.
